My Kid Hates Reading
I totally understand that kids are advanced these days. Almost every book is now an animated movie, so what’s the point of reading a book? Imagination! It’s the adjectives of life. Reading helps create wonder, allows kids to problem solve and to dream up different characters. Using their imagination to help think of smells, remember textures, experience travel and culture, and really let their minds wonder. We’re guilty of watching the inspired motion pictures, but it’s always rewarding knowing the back story to a character, what they are thinking; it’s a secret advantage a reader has with the character. Movies are limited and have to assume a lot of the plot, but by reading the book, you have an opportunity to really get to know the inner workings of some of the most classic favorites. Just as Charlie in Willy Wonka or Wilbur in Charlotte’s Web, or even Alice. When she explores Wonderland, there are plenty of secrets in the book that were never shared. Hmmm? Curious? Sounds like a perfect family story time challenge!
